Every year, thousands of Houstonians flock to the starting line to feast on fun, friends, family, and an altogether amazing fall atmosphere. The Turkey Trot is a Houston tradition that has brought joy to our families and communities for the past 114 years.
But when you participate with us, you’re not just a Trotter. You’re a Houston community partner.
That’s right. Every participant is standing with BakerRipley to crush inequities by maximizing the assets of the neighborhoods where we operate.
In 2020, when COVID-19 threatened to overturn our way of life, Turkey Trot funds helped empower 3,194 volunteers as they contributed 148,353 hours of work towards response and recovery.
The money raised during the Trot, including participation fees, fuels the community programs that do so much. Programs that:
- Help vulnerable neighbors recover from disaster and tragedy
- Feed hungry families
- Give young Houstonians the educational start they need
- Create immigration pathways to effectively integrate our region’s hopeful newcomers
- Teach tax and income management practices
- Empower entrepreneurs to take control of their future
- Build career sustainability through vocational training
That means that your participation places you arm-in-arm with the thousands of volunteers, supporters, donors, and BakerRipley employees who bring resources, education, and connection to emerging neighborhoods. This work happens every day at more than 60 service sites across the Houston region.
Basically, the support from Trotters like you has created transformational change — pathways to possibilities — where our neighbors are able to access resources to realize their greatest aspirations.
